Malta is arguably one of the most unique destinations in Europe. It’s one of the most exotic destinations we have in Europe. Here below, I present to you the best locations I saw during my two day visit and that I would recommend to any visitor to this gorgeous island country.
1. Valletta
Valletta is the capital of Malta. This sprawling coastal seaport is best explored by water. Established in the 15th century, the city is walled and the architecture is a mix of Mannerist, Neo-Classic and modern.
2. The Grand Habour
This is truly one of the most spectacular seaports in the whole world. It’s the country’s main sea gateway and it separates Valletta from the towns of Cospicua, Vittoriosa and Senglea. The natural beauty of Malta is at its best here.
3. The Blue Grotto
The Blue Grotto is a collection of sea caverns on the south coast of the country. This is ultimately one of the most beautiful places to see in Malta. When the sun shines, the rays make the sea water to form shades of blue over the caves. It’s a fantastic thing to see.
4. Popeye Village
Popeye Village, aka the Sweethaven Village was built as a filmset village. It featured in the 1980 Musical Production – Popeye, starring Robin Williams and produced by Paramount and Walt Disney. Today, it’s an attraction fun park, an open air museum, a wedding venue and definitely one of the major tourist attractions in Malta. In order to appreciate it better, check out my video below!
5. Comino Island
From the highest cliff on Comino island, the countless corners of the whole island meet the eye. The island has no permanent residents and it’s small enough. Some of the best beaches in Malta are found here.
